We have witnessed the great courage with which our loved one, Aloysius Boudreau, left this earthly home on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Aloysius was a giving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He passed away at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, under the care of most compassionate staff. Aloysius was born on February 7, 1943. He was the son of the late Elizabeth (Lillie) and David L. (Davy) Boudreau of Cape Auguet. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane (Samson), sons Glen (Jordan), Darrin (John) and grandson MacKenzie of whom he was tremendously proud; brother Gerald (Margaret), sisters Marguerite (Sandy), Delia (Vincent), Claire (Fred), Betty, Vivian (Eddie), sisters-in-law Laura and Isabel; many nieces and nephews; in-law family, Lucina (James), Janice (Ivan), Louis (Monique), and their families. Besides his parents, Aloysius was predeceased by brothers Rudolph, Amedee and Daniel in infancy; brothers-in-law Buddy and Bruce; nephews Dion and Michael; parents-in-law Blanche & Louis Samson. Aloysius had a career that spanned 33 years, teaching high school math. His career began in New Brunswick and ended at IMDH in Arichat. He enjoyed 23 years of retirement from this profession. He was dedicated to the Knights of Columbus, and had a passion for carpentry. Aloysius served the parish of Notre Dame de l'Assomption, Arichat, as Choir Director. His music ministry spanned decades. Aloysius will be remembered for his voice. His exemplary delivery of hymns and songs in both official languages is etched on the minds of those who had the pleasure of hearing him sing. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 21st in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 22nd in Notre Dame de l'Assomption Church, Arichat at 11am. Burial to take place in Notre Dame de l'Assomption Parish Cemetery at a later date. A reception will be held following the Funeral Mass at the New Horizon's Seniors Club in Arichat. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Council 4607 Christmas Fund. Aloysius was devoted to delivering Christmas Dinners to needy families in his community, among many other gestures of service. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H.
