Brooks (DeWolf), Margaret Elizabeth - Antigonish
We regret to announce the passing of Margaret Elizabeth Brooks, of Antigonish formerly of Arichat and New Glasgow, that occurred at the R. K. MacDonald Nursing Home in Antigonish on November 25, 2016. Born August 7, 1930 in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Leo and Margaret Anne (Landry) DeWolf. Elizabeth was a former employee of MT & T for 43 years. She started her career at the age of 14 delivering telegrams on her bicycle in Antigonish. She then moved on to be a telephone operator and supervisor in Antigonish and later transferred to New Glasgow. She loved knitting, crocheting, photography, dancing, darts, bowling and reading. She thoroughly enjoyed her many travels to visit her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Harry William Brooks, Trenton; brothers and sisters, Rose Booth, Stillwater Lake, Mary Poirier Russell), D'Escousse, Joseph, Billerica, Mass., Edwin (Joan), Petit de Grat, Bobby (Marie), Arichat, Tommy (Catherine), D'Escousse; nieces and nephews who she loved dearly, Leo, Anita, Cheryl, Howard, Diane, Mary Rose, Alex, Lowell, Judi, Lori, Erin, Rodney, Peter, Sandy, Todd, Dawn and Holly; 15 great nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her Step-mother, Martha (MacIsaac) DeWolf; brother-in-law, Keith Booth, sister-in-law Patsy DeWolf. Visitation will be held on Friday December 9th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat. Funeral Mass will take place Saturday December 10th in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat at 11:00 a.m. with Father Doug MacDonald, officiating. Burial to follow in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery, D'Escousse. A reception will be held at the Lennox Passage Yacht Club, D'Escousse, following the committal. Memorial donations may be made to St Hyacinth Cemetery Fund in D'Escousse. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the R. K. MacDonald Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Elizabeth during her stay there. It will never be forgotten.Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd, Arichat.
