Obituary of Laura Bernice Fougere

FOUGERE, Bernice Laura (Short), Poulamon NS. It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Bernice on September 4th at St. Martha's Hospital, Antigonish at the age of 74. Mom loved quilting and sewing and loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. She devoted her life to her family, for whom her care was immeasurable. She was the best wife, mother, and sister anyone could hope for. She will be so terribly missed, but fond memories will forever remain and will bring a smile to the faces of many. Born in Harbour Breton NL, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Skinner) Short. She is survived by Alfred, her husband of 51 years, daughter Cathy (Sylvain) Caron, Lower Sackville, sons Ricky, Poulamon, Brian (Jeanette), Dartmouth, grandson Nicholas(Jenna, Jayda), Lower Sackville, granddaughter Brianne, Dartmouth, step-grandson Kyle, Lower Sackville. She is also survived by sisters Mary Marsden, Louisbourg, Margo (Raymond) Jeffrey, Louisdale, Gloria MacNeil, Port Hawkesbury, Audrey (Keith) Kinslow, Martinique, brothers Gordon (Vivian), Arichat, Tommy (Yvonne), Louisdale, Harvey (Darlene), Samson's Cove, Marvin, Tennessee, Sidney (Donna), Martinique, Earl (Leanne), D'Escousse, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Byron, Albert, sister Sandra in infancy. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. Funeral to be held at Our Lady of Assumption Parish, Arichat on Friday afternoon, September 8, 2017 at 2pm, with Rev. Dwayne Devereaux officiating. Interment in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery, D'Escousse. Memorial donations can be made to Neurosurgery Kids Fund (IWK Hospital), Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative Care, or charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H.
