Richard, Rose Marie, Wayne and all the family...sending my deepest condolences on your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
My first memory of meeting Cara and her famliy was at Aunt Rosie and Uncle Clarence's home, just down the road from my home in Pondville. They had this little shed beside their house and they let us convert it into a real Play House. Several of us would gather there and play for hours. I still remember Rose being the oldest and always playing the mother role with Wayne close behind as the big brother. There were no cell phones, iPads or other gadgets that entertained us so we did a good job of creating sincere and lasting friendships. So many memories and so much fun. When they moved into their new home they built next door to us, I continued to see Cara once in a while when some of us would get together to play pool in their basement. As time went on, I moved way and would return home every couple of years mostly to visit my sister and her family who remained in my family home. On those visits I would always pop over, even for a short visit, to see Cara and Richard but often times they were away camping. When my sister took sick, Cara and Richard were alway there to help in any way possible. It was not uncommon to have a pot of the best beef stew ever and a dozen tea biscuits dropped off and pretty sure meat pie may have been added to that mix as well. Genuine and sincere acts of kindness that will never be forgotten. It is only in the most recent years that I truly had the privilege of getting to know both Cara and Richard much better. When they would come to Ottawa to visit with Wayne and his family, I would try and make it out for the weekend. Those few visits in the last few years provided me the opportunity to get to know Cara at a much different level than as a youngster and it is those memories of Cara that I will always treasure. We spent endless hours cooking and baking many of my "down east" favorite dishes (oh, those cinnamon rolls!), attended Sunday Mass together, would get a bit of shopping in, even if just at Costco, and then evenings were spent playing hours and hours of cards and more recenly TOC. Cara was more than happy just to sit on the side lines watching and listening to us all having so much fun with a smile on her face the whole time. It was quite evident her biggest joy was her family and she was so very proud of every one of them. I am grateful for having to get know such a sincere, lovely and beautiful person and the opportunity to make those special memories which I will carry forever in my heart.
Love always,
Lisa
