Mury, Joseph Alfred "Joe", West Arichat
It is with great sadness that the family has to announce the passing of Joe Mury, 91 of West Arichat that occurred at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on January 29, 2017. Born December 7, 1925 in West Arichat, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mauda (Babin) Mury. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeannette, of 59 years and his three sons, Francis, (Maria), Lower Sackville, Conrad, Greenville, SC, David, (Darlene), Lakeview. Grandchildren, Carolynn (Bryan Crane), Shawn, Benjamin, Joey and Katie. And one great grand daughter Audrey Crane. He was predeceased by sisters, Emily, Julia, Isabelle, Antoinette, Seraphine, and Anita; brother Rene. Joe was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He retired in 1985 as supervisor of maintenance and transportation for the Richmond county school board. He was an avid woodworker and spent his retirement years in his basement workshop enjoying his favourite hobby creating and building furniture for his house and friends. He was very involved in the rebuilding of the new church in West Arichat. With his wife, Jeannette, he dedicated much of his time to their parish, Immaculate Conception. He was a mentor to many in the community and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joe's guardian angel and care giver Ruth Kehoe, who took excellent care of Joe and Jeannette for the past two years. Her dedication and services will never be forgotten. Also to the excellent Palliative Care Unit nurses, staff and Dr. Robert Martel at the Strait Richmond Hospital. The family will always remember and be grateful for the services that were provided to Joe and his family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd, Arichat. Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 1, 2017 from 2-4 &7- 9 pm in C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat. Mass of Christian Farewell will be celebrated on Thursday morning February 2, 2017 in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat at 11:00 am with Father Doug MacDonald officiating, assisted by Father Bill Burke and Father Allan MacMillan. Burial to be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, West Arichat. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his honour may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
