PAON, Alfred Thomas Age 85, of D'Escousse, N.S. passed away peacefully in the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on September 20, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born in Martinique, he was the son of the late Thomas Patrick and Elizabeth Mary (Young) Paon. Alfred was a member of the Canadian Marine Officers Union (CMOU) and Horizon's Seniors Citizens Club in Arichat. He will be sadly missed by his wife Marie Elizabeth Paon; daughters Darlene Addinau (Alan); Alana Paon, MLA Cape Breton, Richmond; sons Alfred J. (Naida) Paon, Ronald (Jean) Paon, Paul Paon; grandchildren Leah, Alisha, Meaghan, Cameille, Syarrah, Benjamin, Gharrett, Patrick, Daniel, Melanie, Tania; great grandchildren Jackson, Saje, Bodhi, Colin, Finnley, Colton, Connor, Cuinn, Jack, Ruby; brother Harold (Phyllis) Paon. Alfred was predeceased by his older brother Alfred Paon who passed away in infancy. There will be no visitation per request. Funeral Mass will take place Saturday morning at 10:00a.m. in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat with Rev. Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial to follow in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery, D'Escousse. A reception to follow in the Civic Improvement Hall in D'Escousse. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or to St. Anne's Centre in Arichat.
