Samson, Anthony Joseph-76, Poulamon It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family announce the passing of our beloved husband, father & grandfather Anthony Joseph Samson age 76 from Poulamon on December 1st, 2017. Born in Petit de Grat, he was the son of the late Johnny David and Mary Elizabeth (Boudreau) Samson. At the time of his passing, he was with his beloved wife and son Calvin. He is survived by his loving wife Sylvia Clara (Porier) of 54 years. Anthony was a very proud and loving father to his daughters Mary Bernadine (Lawerence) Samson, Samson's Cove, June Sampson, River Bourgeois, sons Calvin Joseph (Jenny) Samson, Poulamon, & Anthony Dion (Glenda) Samson, Halifax, & grandfather to Chris (Jasmine) Samson, British Columbia, Daniel Samson, Ontario, Rebecca Sampson, River Bourgeois, & Miranda (Justin) Sampson, Louisdale. Anthony is also survived by his sisters Jacqueline (Cornelius) Marchand, Louisdale, Laura (Cletus) Samson, British Columbia, Kathleen Samson, Little Anse, Viola Perry and a brother Abel Samson both from Petit de Grat. He also had a number of nieces, nephews & cousins. Anthony was predeceased by his parents, paternal & maternal grandparents & his mother in law Mary Florie Porier; sister Blaudine David, Delta Fraser; numerous aunts & uncles; niece Deborah Samson; nephews Derrick Samson & Albert Samson; sister-in-law Marilyn (Cole) Samson; brothers in law Leo Samson, Ameedee David, Anthony Fraser, Gustave Terrance Porier & Douglas Napoleon Porier (in infancy. Anthony worked at the Port Hawkesbury Shipyards & Richmond Fisheries in Petit de Grat as a dragger fisherman for 35 years until his retirement. Anthony enjoyed spending time playing jokes, making funny faces, & teasing his grandchildren. He loved playing cards making puzzle books and talking about his time on the draggers. He was nicknamed the "Councillor" because he was instrumental about having street lights installed along with having the banks restructured & railings added to the lower shore road in Poulamon where he lived with his family for over 54 years. When he called, people answered. He courageously battled cancer twice & won both times. He also had numerous heart attacks & strokes & dealt with his Diabetes on a daily basis. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 3rd from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. Cremation will take place. A Celebration of the life of "Tony" will be held in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michel Exalant officiating. Burial to follow in St Hyacinth Cemetery in D' Escousse. Memorial donations can be made to Veteran's Wing at St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Center, Arichat, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Candian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association.
