Obituary of William Murray Marshall

MARSHALL, William Murray – 75, of Potlotek, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2018 at his home in Potlotek. Born September 17, 1942 in Sydney, he was the son of the late Keptin Alexander (Sandy) and Rose (Googoo) Marshall. Murray’s previous occupations were:  medical carrier, janitor, machinist, surveyor, carpenter, drove for MFCS, and worked in Maine every year blueberry picking and in the Fall he went potato picking with family. Murray was always there for his family and friends. He never missed much that went on in his community and the world as a whole. He was an avid reader, loved wrestling, enjoyed gambling and keeping up with the news. He was the community therapist to his family and friends. Loved telling stories. Never missed watching the ball games and fire works with his “Sky Box” from his front steps.  Murray was an amazing man. Murray was loved by everyone. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and everyone who had the opportunity to meet him. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Anne (Paul) Marshall, Potlotek; sons, Dean Francis and Kevin Michael Paul both of Potlotek; brother, Valerian “Smokey” (Ann Cecelia) Marshall, Potlotek; godchildren, Chief Wilbert Marshall, Antle Joe, Stephen Gerald Marshall, Anita Basque and Alan Marshall. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Keptin Thomas Marshall, Peter and Jonas Marshall; sisters, Elizabeth Marshall, Anita Grindle and godsons; Clifford Basil and Gerry Craig Marshall. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Chapel in Potlotek from 4pm until 2pm on Saturday May 5th. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday afternoon at 3pm in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Peter’s with Rev. Antolin Asor presiding. Burial will be held in the Chapel Island Cemetery in Chapel Island (Minikuk) on Pentecost Sunday. A meal and salite will be held in the Potlotek Community Hall following the funeral.
