Hello Cornell Family. I am thinking about you as you grieve. Wow, what a great man! It seems like he was very deliberate about living the best life possible. The oldest hockey referee in Nova Scotia. Impressive.
A great loss for his family and his community.

Dearest Margie, Wade, Glen, Darren, Theresa, and Shawn,
For as long as I can remember, Don has been in our lives and I am going to miss him so much. Whenever anyone was sick st home, Don was always there for Mom and Dad. He announced his visit with three loud taps at the door and we knew it was him. Whenever they visited from Yellowknife, he was the first in Louisdale to greet them .
In the past few years, when Don travelled to Halifax, he and Tommy would drop by to see Dad and it was Dad’s greatest joy. These were times that I was able to talk to Don about things that were happening with dad . He was always so encouraging and let me know how proud he was of me for taking care of his buddy. If he couldn’t visit, he would always phone . The last time he phoned, he told me he was ready and not afraid . I know that he is in Heaven starting up committees and clubs as we speak . Heaven is so lucky to have him.
Needless to say, Dad considered him his best friend and is having a very hard time with this. You see, he forgets and then I have to remind him of why we are here in Louisdale. It’s like telling him over again for the first time, every time.
Thank you all for sharing this amazing man with us. We are all heart broken for you .
Love Lisa, Dan and especially Jim xoxo

Margie, Wade, Glen, Darren, Theresa, Shawn and family:
Saddened to hear of Don’s passing. He was genuinely one of the nicest people I’ve ever known: Smart, witty, compassionate, and a dear friend to my in-laws, Jim and the late Lorraine Bowden. Any time we met, you could be certain that Don would greet you with a smile and warm handshake or hug, and he was always eager to know what was going on with me, Lisa and our family, and happy to share news about the latest adventures and successes of his children and grandkids. His pride in all of you was always so evident. Even in the last few years, he never dwelled on his health challenges, preferring instead to focus on the positive. He leaves a great legacy. Oh sure, there was that Bruins obsession, but none of us is perfect. Rest in peace, Don.

It is with broken hearts we hear of the passing of Coach Don Cornell who was very special to us. No matter how many times we went home, we always made a point to stop and visit. He always greeted us with a smile and kindness in his heart and his wife, Margie too. Roy has many fond memories of his days of playing hockey as Don was his coach.
May you RIP dear Coach, you will be forever in our hearts.

Margie..we were so sad to hear the sad news about Don. My memories of Don go back to my school days. Don coached us as hockey team. We all remember him having us run from the school to the Church and back again. At times he would run backwards faster than we could going forward..lol. Wanda & I always enjoyed visiting you both on our Louisdale trips. Don was one heck of a nice guy. Wanda fell in love with you both the first time she met you. Our hearts are saddened. May the prayers, hugs and memories of family & friends uphold you at this difficult time. We love you Margie and send hugs & prayers across the miles.
