DORT, Gerard “Jerry” William, Port Hawkesbury/Lochside

Gerard “Jerry” Willam Dort of Port Hawkesbury formerly of Lochside passed away peacefully at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston on February 23, 2019 at the age of 61 years. Born July 27, 1957 in Arichat, he was the son of the late Albert and Anita (Forrest) Dort. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sharon Mary (DeRoach) Dort; daughter Kelly Jeffery (Ronald), Porters Lake; son Paul (Jessica), Lake Echo; grandchildren Samantha, Cassandra, Mia and William; brothers Andrew (Amelia), Lochside, Francis (Therese), Alderney Point, Edward (Sharon), BC; sister Linda Cameron (Marc Boudreau), Arichat. He will also be missed by his special furry friend Emily. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Leonard Forest and David Dort. Jerry loved camping and Bluegrass was a big part of his life. He loved his grandchildren dearly and enjoyed their visits. He also loved his one and only favorite sister Linda. Jerry was a welder by trade but was “Mr. Fix it” by all his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7-9pm in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat with Rev. Michel Exalant presiding. Burial at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to St. Ann Centre in Arichat or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat.
