It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Leona that occurred on Sunday February 24th, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, after a lengthy illness. Born in Barra Head on May 24, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Mary C. (Vincent) O’Toole and was raised by her grandparents Joe and Susie Vincent. Leona’s passion was her gardening and her beloved cats. They were her pride and joy. She is survived by her sons Carl Vincent, Frank Patterson; siblings Mary Lou (Ed), Rose, Vernon (Mary), Ernest (Karen), Anna, Shirley (Keith), Loretta and Jenny (James). She is also survived by her only Aunt-Godmother Agnes (John) Johnson; many nieces and nephews and good friend Hughie Clorey, who was always there for her. Besides her mother and grandparents, Leona was predeceased her uncle Eugene Vincent; Godfather Thomas Marshall; and the love of her life, her husband Arthur Peddle in 2009. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 28th at the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Chapel in Potlotek from 4pm until 9:30am on Saturday March 2nd. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 am in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Peter’s with Rev. Antolin Asor presiding. Burial will take place at a later date in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Barra Head. A meal and salite will be held in the Potlotek Community Hall following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Chapel Island Mission Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat.
