On March 17th, 2022, Patricia Barbara Theriault of Arichat passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by family. Born in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Lydia (Greene) Morton. Growing up in Lower Argyle, Patsy spent much of her time in the woods, setting snares and caging partridge, an accomplishment that earned her the nickname of the Bantam Hen. She loved spending time with her grandfather, Edgar Greene, helping him with his chores both on the land and on the water. They picked berries, stacked firewood, mended nets and she cherished her time with him. After grade 11, she entered the Yarmouth School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She worked in Yarmouth, Halifax, Moncton, Sydney, Cheticamp and retired from St Martha’s in Antigonish in 1998. She was a natural caregiver and thoroughly enjoyed her patients in the Geriatric unit and her coworkers who quickly became great friends. She met her husband of 54 years, George Theriault, at Wagner’s Restaurant in Yarmouth and they were married on May 14, 1966. They had two children, Darren and Monica, whom she loved dearly. Their home on Northview Drive was a gathering place for the neighborhood friends and she was always happy to see them come to the door. Her grandchildren were an immense source of joy for her and she could not have been more proud of them. She loved watching Charlie’s hockey games and Leah’s volleyball games and seeing Millie grow, learn and play, dance and sing. Under the guidance of her mother, Lydia, Pat learned to quilt in 1980, a love that she shared with her sisters. She loved gifting her beautiful blankets and often donated them for local fundraisers. During the first year of the covid 19 pandemic, she produced a whopping 15 full sized quilts created with repurposed and thrifted materials. Pat also enjoyed her many flower gardens and was especially proud of her climber rose bushes that she grew along the rock wall and her honeysuckle vines that reminded her so much of her home in Argyle. She loved “going down home” drinking Nescafé around the kitchen table, reminiscing about ‘’raising hell’’ down at Bo’s followed by fits of laughter and their annual family picnic on Jones’s Island. A springtime tradition she looked so forward to each year was picking Mayflowers. Her keen eye could somehow spot them from a fast moving car. Her green thumb was also seen inside with her beautiful ferns and her knack with african violets. Pat also had a great love of the game of golf and played at the Antigonish Golf and Country Club and was Club Champion on more than one occasion at the Dundee Golf Club. She made wonderful friends on the course and was so looking forward to squeezing in one more season with them. Pat was a wonderful hostess and loved having people in for supper. The preparations were an all day affair and often went late into the evening sipping George’s blackberry wine. Her holiday turkey dinners were out of this world and each Christmas, George would say “This is the best one yet, Pat!” And, if you were gifted a coveted plum pudding you can be assured that you were very, very special to her. During her relatively short illness, Pat carried with her a sense of calm and acceptance saying ‘’Things will work out, either way.’’ and not to worry. She was so appreciative of the many people who reached out to her with beautiful cards and messages, meals, encouragement and love. A special thank you goes to the fantastic palliative care team at St. Martha’s, Dr. Laurie MacNeil, Dr. Saliba and Dr. Irving for their most compassionate care. Pat was a member of St. Anne’s Auxiliary, Friends of St. James, Isle Madame Historical Society and the New Horizons Seniors Club. She is survived by her husband George Raymond Theriault; daughter Monica (Ronald) LeBlanc, Havre Boucher; son Darren (Scarlett) Theriault, Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren Millie, Leah and Charlie; brother Roland (Nancy) Morton, Argyle Sound; sisters Doris (Hugh) Lawrence, Wolfville, Bertha (Bruce) Christie, Barrington Passage, Francis MacDougall, Yarmouth, Nancy (Russell) D’Entremont, Argyle Head, Iris (Louis) Hilton, Argyle and Arlene (Randy) Corning, Eel Brook. She was predeceased by brothers Kenneth Morton, Toronto, Ivan Morton, Yarmouth and sister Judy Paton, Barrington. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral mass as per her request. A private graveside observance will take place at a later date in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, Arichat. Memorial donations in memory of Pat can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre in Sydney. Arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MY TRIBUTE GIFT FOUNDATION OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND AGENTS (THE "FOUNDATION PARTIES") BE LIABLE FOR ANY: (i) INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, COMPENSATORY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (ii) DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF INCOME, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF DATA OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY; (iii) CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES; OR (iv) OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OF USE, THE WEBSITE OR ANY LINKED SITE. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.

As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified.
