Please share a memory of Susan Isabel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we the family of Susan Isabel DeBaie announce her passing on December 7, 2024, in Victoria, BC. Born in Sydney NS., February 26, 1971, to parents Ronald and Gwen (Amey) DeBaie, Susan was the youngest of five children, the completion of an immensely loving and hardworking family. She grew up in Pondville and graduated from IMDH in Arichat in 1989. Growing up on the ocean's doorstep, Susan lived a quiet and gentle lifestyle. The simplicity of this slow and gentle life continued to seep into her personality. Susan was a nurturer, an extraordinary human, who found her cup being filled among nature, growing beautiful plants from seed; having a remarkable eye for beauty which she translated into a career in horticulture. She attended Agriculture College in Truro and graduated in 1991 with her diploma in Landscape Horticulture. She moved to Victoria, BC to pursue her career and not long after arriving in BC she found employment at Marigold Nurseries. Susan loved her job and took immense pride in her work. She was our go to person for everything landscape/gardening related. She was very skilled and creative in her flower arrangements. After Marigolds closed its doors, Susan found employment at a flower shop at Quality Foods and remained at this establishment until she became ill in September of last year. Susan was a kind and gentle soul. Always greeting you with a smile and her sweet laugh. Susan had an unwavering strength, especially in the last few years of life. Her kindness was special, her generosity enough to fill your soul with warmth. She faced challenges with courage and grace, never letting her spirit waiver. She is survived by her mother Gwen (Amey) DeBaie, Pondville, brother Tim (Barb) DeBaie, Victoria, BC. Sisters Hazel (Doreen) DeBaie, Lakeside and Christine (Aubrey) DeRoach, Lochside. Nephews Ryan (Madison) DeRoach, Halifax. Kyle(godson), Robbie and Scott Ross, Mabou, brother-in-law Gordon Ross, Mabou. Nieces Mackalen DeRoach, Halifax and Eva DeBaie, Alberta and the many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her precious fur babies. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She was predeceased by her father Ronald Arthur DeBaie, her sister Darlene Bertha (DeBaie) Ross and her nephew Mitchell DeBaie. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Susan's entire care team at Royal Jubilee Hospital for the compassion they imparted on Susan during her brief but courageous battle with cancer. To our brother Tim and sister-in-law Barb for being there for Susan to offer support and care in her final days. Susan, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, you are forever in our memory, alive in the gardens of our family, now at peace with loved ones there to greet you.
