Obituary of Mary Valerie Landry

LANDRY, Mary “Valerie” It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved Mother. Mémé, Grand-Mémé and Aunty. Valerie, 94, of Petit de Grat, who passed away peacefully at St. Anne’s Centre, Arichat on April 28, 2025. Born on November 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ernest H. and Eva (Samson) Landry and loving wife to the late Arthur Landry. She is survived by her daughter Patsy (Mike) White of Halifax and her son Stephen (Clara) Landry of Petit de Grat; grandchildren Nicole (Gerald) Crosby, Jeremy (Nikki) Landry, Jenna (Stephen) Morrison, Jason (Haley) Landry; great grandchildren Faryn, Kaysen, Myles, Deacon, Brynn and Emmett; sisters Lucille Franke and Edna Landry. As well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Valerie was predeceased by her only brother Edwin and sisters Corrine, Veronica and Martine. Valerie was a loving mother and grandmother, a homemaker. She dedicated her life to taking care of her elderly family members. She loved the outdoors, she loved to garden, dance and spend time with family and friends. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. The family would like to extend special thanks to the care team at the White Hills LTC in Hammonds Plains and to the care team at the St. Anne’s Centre in Arichat, as well as to all those who helped care for her in her son’s home in Hammonds Plains. The exceptional care, kindness, love and thoughtfulness given to her will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. Funeral mass will take place on May 31, 2025 at 1pm in St. Joseph’s Church, Petit de Grat with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Burial to follow in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat. Everyone is welcome to join the family for a reception at the St. Joseph’s Parish Hall. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzeimer’s Society (NS) or to St. Anne’s Centre in Arichat.
