Condolences
Dearest Leonard, where do I begin ; you came into our family, I was fairly young ! You were a staple in our family always there for us all. Everything that was needed or needed to be done ,you were there ! I remember the many times in the early years, you drove dad to visit his boat that was being built. The many many times you would come home from work, have something to eat,and off to go with dad to get poogy, for his next day fishing!never a one complaint I ever heard come from you !you did that for many more years, long after I left home. There were many renovations done at my family home ,by your hands ! None better than putting in a bathroom (especially for me)lol ! You were always there for mom and dad.You raised three wonderful children ! I remember all the ruckus you raised with them in the house, while playing, Gloria’s threats falling on deaf ears. lol You were always there to give anyone a hand with anything at anytime,I’m sure a lot of people on the island will attest to that ! You made many trips to Halifax to pick me up from the airport, package up my goodies and drive me back when my holiday was done.I so enjoyed the many night talks when I was down, the thoughts and advice. You treated Gloria and looked after with such great pleasure! You built many things with your hands,in your later years, I have many of your little projects here , which I cherish! You had a great voice,I loved the many hours spent listening to you sing and play guitar, along with Nigel on some occasions (great times)which I will cherish. Leonard you were one of a kind, with an infectious laugh, kind words always spoken, and the patience of a saint ! I’m sure you will be missed by many! As you will be by me and my family ! Some things in life are not fair,Your passing is definitely one of them!! RIP Leonard I’ll love you and miss you forever !! Claudette

Gloria, Nigel, Jacqueline, Laura & families,
We are so sorry for your loss, it is a big loss, not only for you Gloria and your family but for the whole community. When Leonard was around, you didn’t have to see him because you could surely hear his joyful laugh wherever he was, his saying was “you have to enjoy everyday” and Leonard certainly practised what he preached. Our families got to know each other really well when our children connected at Isle Madame High School, we always told Jacqueline she was our second daughter. We are truly going to miss Leonard, his smile and laughter. May he rest in peace!

Gloria, Nigel, Jacqueline, Laura and family,
Please accept our condolences and sympathy at this difficult time. I have fond memories of visiting West Arichat, especially as a child, and of Uncle Leonard’s kindness, generosity and joy. He was - and will always be - an inspiration. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers,

Q: How would you describe Alfred Leonard to someone who had never met them?
A: Leonard always had a smile on his face, and if he could be of help, he was sure to roll his sleeves and offer to help in any way. He was friendly and kind, never judge anyone. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
It is with very heavy hearts that we send our very sincere condolences to you Gloria and family. Too often life gets in the way of spending time with people you view as being as close to perfection as a person can be. I always envied you two as having a relationship that would stand the test of time. Both of you have been model citizens without a doubt. Today is a very difficult time for everyone in your family I’m sure as well as anyone who was fortunate enough to have spent time working with him. Leonard was the most pleasant person I ever worked with who taught me something that I still practice today. He told me that “ anything that you do if you give it your best, will be done to the best of your abilities at that time and if you keep that approach you will improve as you work throughout your working life”. That was the gift he gave me. I will never forget is instant smile and laughter. Gary& Marcia
My Pépé would build me cardboard forts every summer we visited. He would save up cardboard for me to zip-tie together into a play house that we would decorate and paint together. One of my most cherished memories.
To Gloria and family, our deepest sympathy to all of you,
