LORRAINE MARY (Marie) BOUDREAU
MAY 28, 1949 - MAY 19, 2025
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful and dearly loved mother, Lorraine Mary (Marie) Boudreau after a long and courageous battle with liver failure. She was born in Louisdale, NS on May 28, 1949, and was the daughter of Francis Peter Jeffrey of Louisdale, NS and Rose (Fougere) Jeffrey of West Arichat, NS.
Mommy met the love of her life, Ronald (Ronnie) Boudreau in 1964. They were married on May 11, 1968, and recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. In keeping with their vows, they were devoted to one another through sickness and health. Daddy lovingly cared for Mommy throughout her illness, and she was so grateful to have him by her side.
Lorraine was the mother to two of the most fortunate and grateful girls, Suzanne (Boudreau) van den Hoogen and Corinne Boudreau. She loved us with all her heart, and we are so thankful for all the sacrifices she made for us. In addition to her daughters, she was most proud of her grandchildren: Joshua (Genevieve), Josee (Anthony) and Alexis (Matthew) van den Hoogen and Rachel and Erin Burke, and her two great-grandchildren, Raela and Leo Aleong. She called her son-in-law, Robert van den Hoogen, an angel that fell from heaven, and loved him like her own.
Mommy loved Christmas. It was her favourite time of year and she could be heard humming Christmas carols all year long. She had two green thumbs and a passion for gardening. With Daddy by her side, they loved to maintain a beautiful yard and gardens.
Mommy was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Carita (LeBlanc) and Joseph Fougere, and her paternal grandparents Georgina (Samson) and Geofrey Jeffrey, niece and goddaughter, Donna (Jeffrey) Marchand, brother-in-law Felix Sampson, as well as her youngest sister and best friend RoseAnne Jeffrey.
Mommy will be dearly missed by her sister, Joan Sampson, and sister-in-law Jeanette Jeffrey who visited frequently. They would have girls' nights filled with laughter that cheered Mommy throughout her illness. Stella Sampson (Leonard) who Mommy considered her second mother. The love and friendship they shared was very special to our mother. Paul Shears (Rose-Anne Jeffrey) who was like a brother to her. Marlene (Doug) Jeffrey who was her hair dresser and a dear friend. Geraldine (Adrian) Boudreau, one of her dearest friends who frequently visited and checked in on her daily and Tammy (Bates) Joyce with whom she had a special bond.
Mommy, we want to thank you for encouraging us to be strong, independent women and for enduring so much pain and suffering just to be with us for as long as you could. We will love you forever.
Special thanks to all the nurses and doctors at the Strait Richmond Hospital and the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital who cared for our mother. A Catholic mass will be held on Saturday, June 21st at 11:00 am at the St. Louis Parish Church in Louisdale, NS. Burial and Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with our Mother’s love of animals, donations can be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA.
