Obituary of Jeanne Marie Samson
Please share a memory of Jeanne Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marie Samson, formerly of Louisdale, NS, on August 23rd, 2025, at the St. Anne's Nursing Home in Arichat, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Samson's Cove, NS, Marie was the daughter of Theophile and Bertha Samson. She was a devoted wife for 62years to Arthur (Cart) Samson of Louisdale and a loving mother to her children: Geralyn (Darin) Boudreau of Antigonish, NS; Pam (Bob) Bremner of Middle Sackville, NS; Dennis (Shelley) Samson of Fort McMurray, AB; and Keith (Crystal) Samson of Louisdale, NS. Marie was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Bryden, Kristen, Mitchell, Evan, Jaime, Nicholas, Isabella, and Carlin, as well as seven great-grandchildren that brought her immense joy.
A kind and generous person, Marie exemplified empathy and selflessness. She always put others before herself. Gatherings with family and friends were the highlight of Marie's life. She loved to play cards, watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with Cart, and share laughter and a meal with those who were close to her. She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in sharing Sunday dinners and special occasions with a houseful of family. Family was everything to her! Marie loved music and singing, and enjoyed being part of the church choir for many years. Her unwavering faith in God brought her strength and comfort throughout her life, especially during her illness. Marie will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, because to know her was to love her. She will be remembered for the kindness, love, and countless memories she created with her family.
Marie is survived by her brothers, Theophile (Lucille) Samson and Gerry (Linda) Samson; sisters-in-law, Claire (late Eugene) Samson, Jean (Rudolph) Landry, Lorraine (Edward) Marchand, Carol-Anne Samson, and Cecilia (Bobby) Stone; and brother-in-law, Felix (Linda) Samson. Marie was predeceased by her sisters Delta (late Clarence) Landry, Nora (late Alcide) Landry, her brother Eugene (Claire) Samson, and her mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Mary Samson.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Paul Pluta, Dr. Laurie MacNeil and Dr. Scott MacNeil for the care given to mom during her illness. As well, we would like to thank the entire staff of St. Anne's Nursing Home for the love, care and compassion shown to her during her stay. As a family, we would be remiss not to mention the caring support that Aunt Linda Samson (Gerry) provided to her. Aunt Linda was a regular and faithful visitor at every opportunity and loved her and treated her like her own sister.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 1st at 11am at St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisdale with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to follow in the Our Lady of the Rosary Park and Resting Place Columbarium. Reception to follow at St Louis Parish Hall. In honor of Marie’s memory, memorial donations may be made to the Our Lady of the Rosary Park Resting Place, or the St. Anne's Center Recreation Fund.
