It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Celine Eleanor Fougere(Boudreau), formerly of Petit de Grat, on September 4, 2025, at the St. Anne’s Nursing Home in Arichat, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Petit de Grat, NS on July 22, 1936, Celine was the daughter of the late Delima and Cletus Boudreau. She was the devoted wife of the late Alfred Fougere and a loving mother to her children: Earl (Ruth) Rodney (Sylvia) Leslie (Marlene), and Gordie (Zilda), former daughter-in-law Cheryl.
Celine was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren: Neil (Angie), Holly (Greg), Ryan (Jennifer), Kaleb, Anique (Rene), Cody (Jennifer), Robyn, Josh (Sandi), and Tyler (Renee), as well as fourteen great-grandchildren: Selena, Ryder, Annie, Aschelle, Alexander, Lily, Mya, Raya, Jane, Parker, Violet, Hunter, Olivia, and Emilie, all of whom she cherished dearly.
She was a very devoted Catholic and had a very strong faith, which guided her throughout her life. Known for her kind and selfless nature, Celine always put others before herself. She found joy in simple pleasures—Bingo, playing cards, especially crib, dancing, and living her deep faith.
Celine was a woman of many talents and great dedication. She began her career as a school teacher, later worked at Richmond Fisheries, ran a small canteen for several years and also worked as a cashier at the Corner Bridge Store, where she was known for her kindness and warm presence. She was a proud life time member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Women’s League.
Celine is survived by her brother Claude Boudreau, her sister Lynette Greene (Fred Nodding ) and sisters-in-law Gwenie Boudreau, Marie Fougere, Brenda White (Francis), and brother in law Stanley Benoit (Joan). She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alfred Fougere, sister Laura, brother Rudolph, sister-in-law Mavis, brothers-in-law George Greene, Bernard Fougere and her grandchild Dominque.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Laurie MacNeil and Dr. Scott MacNeil for their care during Celine’s illness, as well as to the entire staff of St. Anne’s Nursing Home for the love, compassion, and support shown to her throughout her stay. Also thanks to a very special young lady, Jade, for making Celine’s day a little brighter with her visits.
In honor of Celine’s memory, memorial donations may be made to the St. Anne’s Center Recreation Fund.
