Please share a memory of Edward Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edward Joseph Doyle, Louisdale December 5, 1939 - September 14, 2025 Died at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, surrounded by family. Son of the late Mary Ann (Rose) Sampson and Edward Daniel Doyle. He is survived by his sons Colin "Eddie" (Andrea) of Prospect, Ken (Laurie) of Russell ON, Ron of Louisdale, Brian (Laurie) of Whiteside, his daughters Leanne (Darrell) Oake of Dartmouth, and Colleen (Hughie) MacLeod of Louisdale, his 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Sisters Shirley (Roy) Clorey, Agnes (the late Leo) Fougere, Patsy (Jerry) Jeffrey, Donna (Gary) Samson, and Bernice (Stephen) Benoit. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Mary Alice, infant son Bradford and granddaughter Heidi. Dad was a carpenter and worked as a member of our late uncle Leo Fougere's crew. He also worked in construction and was part of the crew that built the Canso Causeway, the bridge to Isle Madame and the highway between St. Peter's and Port Hawkesbury. He was "Mister Fix It" and even had a t-shirt that said "If Papa can't fix it, no one can". Dad was a very faithful man and the Divine Mercy was one of his favorite prayers. Dad would say his prayers first thing in the morning to start off his day and could be seen at the cemetery visiting with mom and doing his prayers. Dad was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family was the center of his being. He would often drop what he was doing if any of us were in need. He deeply loved his great grandchildren and whenever one of them came to visit, the smile on his face would light up the room. He loved to spin mom around the dance floor and was a vivid story teller who loved to entertain us with stories from his youth and young adult life. He would start laughing as he told the story and regardless how many times he told it, he would still laugh equally as hard, and at the same spots each time. He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed watching 'The Pink Panther" and "Goofy Cartoons" and his laugh was contagious. He also loved making puzzles or doing word search. Thank yous go out to Dr. Gillis and the palliative care team, Dr. Angaye, Home Care and the nurses that came to the house to care for dad. Visitation will take place in the Glenn Sampson Room at St. Louis Parish Church in Louisdale from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, September 18th. Funeral will be held at St. Louis Parish Church on Friday, September 19th at 11am with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to follow in St. Louis Parish Cemetery, Louisdale. A reception will be held following the burial at the St. Louis Parish Hall, Louisdale. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H.
