Joseph Louis Boudreau Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Louis Boudreau on September 24th, 2025 at Strait Richmond Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 10th, 1945 Louis was third child and the only son of Raymond and Mary Boudreau. Louis spent part of his childhood in Sydney but later moved with his family to Louisdale, a place that meant so very much to him. Louis tried his hand at a few different professions but really found his passion when his mother taught him how to cook at the French Village. In 1972, Louis got the opportunity to take over the Cosy Corner in St. Peters with his wife Loretta, sister Shirley, and brother-in-law Willie. He raised his family within the walls of that building, teaching us the value of hard work and responsibility that comes with being a staple of your community. From the kids coming to the back door for fries and gravy, the coffee club, all the regulars, and the people passing though, he made so many amazing memories at the Cosy Corner. In 1989, Dad decided to make the move to Port Hawkesbury, first to Louie’s Family Restaurant then to the Skye Dining Room and many other ventures all over town. He made many lifelong friendships there, from many walks of life, all of whom he treasured.

In 2009, we were offered the opportunity to come home to St. Peters and in 2010 he was back where he belonged, at the Cosy Corner. He continued to travel the province catering weddings, conferences, and even feeding Aerosmith and Slash at Hearth Park in Sydney. As his health declined, he passed over the reigns to Kevin and Vanessa more and more allowing him to focus even more of his time at the Corner to being social, something he enjoyed very much.

His passion for food was matched by his passion for people. Dad loved to talk, to get to know people, help them if they needed it. Dad had an amazing memory, if you told him about your mother’s hip surgery, even if he didn’t see you for a year, he’d remember to ask how she made out. Louis didn’t have time for many hobbies though he did enjoy a game of crib, watching sports in his lazy boy, and, in his later years, TV bingo, which he was incredibly lucky at. Dad was known for his humor, his kindness, his great hugs, and we will miss him tremendously.

Louis is survived by his wife and love of his life Loretta (Sampson), Son Kevin (Christy), Sister Lynn, Grandchildren Vanessa (Jason), Cassandra, Jesse, & Joee, Great Grandson Bowie, son in law Duane, and many nieces and nephews all of which he had special relationships with.

Louie was predeceased by his parents, In Laws Alfie and Ella Sampson, Sisters Clothilda and Shirley, and his daughter Lisa, whom he couldn’t wait to see again.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 3rd at the Holy Guardian Angel's Parish in L'Ardoise at 2:00pm with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Guardian Angel's Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the L'Ardoise Community Centre, in L'Ardoise.
