Obituary of Joey Marchand
Please share a memory of Joey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that we announce the death of Joseph Richard Derrick Marchand, of Hammonds Plains, on October 4, 2025 at the QE II VG site, 8B.
Joey was born on July 10, 1964 to Wilfred and the late Claire (Samson) Marchand.
Joey is survived by his eternal love, his wife Cathy of 33 years. Besides his dad, Joey is loved by his siblings, Terry (Henry), Shelly (Serge), Kelly (Paula) and Barry (Tracey) and their families. Loved by mother-in-law Doris and sisters-in-law, Corinne (Mike) and Terri (Kenny) and their families. He has many Aunts, Uncles, chosen Aunts, cousins and numerous friends. A full circle of love, laughs and friendships.
He was predeceased by his mom, father-in-law Lorenzo, paternal grandparents Arthur and Rose, maternal grandparents Francis and Florie, many Aunts, Uncles, especially Uncle Bill, and cousins, especially Annie.
Joey graduated from St FX in 1986 and had a long career in business ending with a long career in the financial industry with Loblaws due to illness. Joey was a respected professional and has many friendships from his years there.
Joey fought a valiant 3 1/2 years battle with cancer. He fought it with never-ending strength, hope, courage and determination. Never one to complain, Joey lived by the motto...You live with cancer, don't let cancer define you. He dreamed of healthier days as he and Cathy hoped to share a wonderful retirement and add memories for a lifetime.
As per Joey's request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private burial will take place at a later date at the Acadiaville Columbarium. Entrusted to the care of C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. Memorial donations can be made to Feed Nova Scotia.
We want to especially thank the family of doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers from 8A and 8B, who were so much a part of our family everyday for the past 3 1/2 years. Your care, compassion and professionalism helped brightened the good days and lighten the dark days. You are special angels in your professions.
Fly high Joey as you have now earned your angel wings. Send us messages to let us know you are near!!! We miss you and love you!!! Until we meet again!!!
