It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Nell (Helen Mary) Boudreau 78, of Arichat, Nova Scotia on October 27, 2025.
Nell was born in Arichat, NS September 23, 1947 to the late John Harold LeBrun and Claire Elizabeth (LeBlanc) LeBrun and predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Vernon Boudreau and brothers; John LeBrun and Michael LeBrun.
She is survived by; Daughter Michelle Carter (Kenny) Halifax; Son Scott Boudreau (Gail) Digby; Grandson Brett Carter, Halifax and Sisters Ann Sampson (Bucky) River Bourgeois, NS, Florence LeBrun, Port Coquitlam, BC and Claire (Clairette) LeBrun, Halifax, NS and; Special Sister-In-Laws Bernadine LeBrun, Celeste Boudreau, and Claire Boudreau.
After completing high school in Arichat, Nell attended St. FX University for a couple of years before settling in Arichat with Vernon to raise her children and pursue her working life that began in the LeBrun family business. She moved on from there to engage in her own business ventures as the owner - operator of ‘The Village Corner Store’ and owner of a number of real estate properties. After her entrepreneurial journey came to a close she spent over twenty years working as the office manager for Premium Seafoods. Nell was a strong, intelligent, resilient woman who loved her career and thoroughly enjoyed ‘working’. Had life not had other plans for her, we are certain she would still be behind her desk.
Throughout the years, Nell volunteered her time with various organizations in the community and was on the Board of Directors of The Richmond Figure Skating Club and The St. Joseph’s Credit Union in Petit de Grat. She was an avid reader and gardener, enjoyed a great drama or crime series on tv, loved a good card game, the beach and country music. She was brilliant at the NY Times crossword puzzle, completing one daily, and was a great cook. When not at home, she loved shopping, travelling and exploring every nook and cranny wherever she went.
Nell had a very generous, kind heart. Her intelligence and common sense attitude was appreciated by many who knew her. She did not shy from debate and offered many insightful perspectives when engaging in thoughtful discussions. Nell hosted many parties and family gatherings in her home over the years. She made holidays special for her family and friends and the children of our friends with food, fun and gifts. For those who knew her best, Nell will be remembered welcoming many visitors with a cup of tea or drink of rum and coke (no ice) around the ‘breakfast nook table’ for great conversation and lots of laughs over the years.
She was a loving wife and very caring, engaged, nurturing mother to her children; enjoying and following along with all of their activities and pursuits in life over the years. While she loved her children, when her grandson, Brett came along another level of love was inspired. She did not go more than a month without seeing him from the day he was born. She enjoyed summers with him at the beach, baking brownies for him on a daily basis, ‘playing’ in the yard, showering him with gifts and watching him curl and play ball. He was the true joy of her life.
Words cannot express our sincere gratitude to the team of very special caregivers on Point Pleasant Way at Parkstone Enhanced Care Facility in Halifax, NS for the incredible care and compassion they provided during Nell’s stay up to her very last breath and beyond. The kindness, comfort and support they shared will be remembered forever. They are true gifts to this world. A special thank you to those who reached out with kind messages, phone calls, stories of our Mom, flowers and food. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated and will be remembered.
