Obituary of Chester Paul Jeffrey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chester Paul Jeffrey on November 30, 2025, at the Strait Richmond Hospital. Born on August 29, 1942, in Louisdale, NS, Chester was predeceased by his partner Darlene, his parents Leonard and Mary Jeffrey, his sisters Dorothy, Josephine, Anna, Alice, and his brothers Leonard, Edward, and Raymond. Chester is survived by his children Vanessa and Christopher, grandchildren Cameron, Sarah, and Sadie, and two great-grandchildren Leia and Cooper. He is also remembered by his brothers John (Mildred), Francis (Ann), his sister Stella, sisters-in-law Margo and Marion along with many nieces and nephews. Chester’s early career was as an ironworker on many construction projects across Nova Scotia. After an injury, he moved into public service working at the Canso Causeway Scale House and eventually becoming Superintendent of Highways for Richmond County. The Jeffrey family is known for their love of music, and Chester was no exception. His musical talent shone through his singing, and some of his fondest memories were made at family kitchen parties and song circles. As Chester’s earthly journey comes to its close, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with those who have gone before him; his partner Darlene, along with his parents, sisters, and brothers, greeting him with joyful music and embracing him as he is called home to God. The family extends special thanks to the medical staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital, St. Martha’s Hospital and Harbour View Rehab Centre for their compassionate care. There will be no visitation. The funeral mass will be held on December 13th, 2025, at 11:00 am, St. Louis Parish, Louisdale, NS. Memorial donation's can be may to the Strait Richmond Health Care Foundation.
