Obituary of Mary Cecilia Poirier

It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of MARY CECILIA (DEWOLF) POIRIER, 87 of D’Escousse, Nova Scotia. Mary passed away peacefully, December 24th, 2025,, at the Taigh Solas, long term care in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Born October 12th, 1938, Mary was the daughter of the late Leo and Martha (MacIsaac) DeWolf. Dad and Mom operated the Esso station in D’Escousse for over 50 year, they loved their community. We will remember Moms, determination, kindness and love of family. Mary was proud of her Scottish and French heritage, she loved to read, car trip adventures. She will be missed. Mary is survived by her Daughters, Diane (Warren), Mary Rose (Tony); Sons, Alex (Jeff), Lowell (Margaret); Grandchildren, Scott, Stephen, Deborah; Brothers, Joe DeWolf, Edwin (Joan) Dewolf; Sister Rose Booth; Sister in-laws, Catherine DeWolf , Sandra Poirier; Cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Russell R Poirier; Brothers, Tommy, Bobby and her Sister Elizabeth Brooks. Sister in-laws Marie DeWolf, Patsy DeWolf, Claire Baccardax, Thelma Paon, Doreen Poirier, Doris Poirier; Brother –in laws Norman, Claude, Norman Poan, Wilfred Baccardax and Keith Booth; Niece Anita and Nephews Emile, Howard. We would like to thank everyone that helped Mom, staff and helpers at the CBRH, Glace Bay Hospital and Taigh Solas, North Sydney. We appreciate everything you did. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service at this time. A graveside service will be held in St Hyacinth Cemetery in D'Escousse at a later date. Memorial donations in her memory can be made to St. Anne’s Centre in Arichat. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd. In Arichat.
