MACKENZIE, Ronald Stewart, 78 of Lower L’Ardoise
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Stewart Mackenzie of Lower L’Ardoise who passed away on December 26, 2025. Born in Murray Harbour, PEI, he was the son of the late Alvin and Eileen (Stewart) Mackenzie.
At the age of 17, Ron joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps (RCAMC) where he truly believed in serving his Country and making a difference in protecting Canada. Ron was deeply devoted to his Military career and took great pride in his strong work ethic. This was evident in both his quiet unassuming strength while caring for people, and the pride in which he held in regard the poppy and Canada flag.
Ron was fiercely protective and loyal to his family, with a special affection for those with four legs, including his beloved Shaggy. Ron had a great sense of humour and an infectious laugh. He especially welcomed and loved to be teased by his grandchildren.
But above all, Ron loved the Montreal Canadians. Go Habs Go.
Ron is survived by his wife Laudwina (Dawson) Mackenzie; daughter Lorena Mackenzie (David Sullivan), Ottawa; son Ronnie Mackenzie, Glace Bay; grandchildren Courtney Collette, Jared Collette and Carter Mackenzie.
Cremation has taken place, with a burial to follow at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Ron can be made to the L’Ardoise Food Bank.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat.
