Obituary of Mary Priscilla Bourque
Please share a memory of Mary Priscilla to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Priscilla Bourque, lovingly known as Mémé Pris, passed away on December 27, 2025, at the age of 96.
She lived a long, full life marked by hard work, generosity, laughter, and love. Priscilla was an incredibly hard worker from a young age and carried that work ethic throughout her life. She spent the first few years teaching school in River Bourgeois (where she met Hogan), moved to St. Catherine’s, where the twins were born, and then returned to West Arichat with her family. She was the custodian of the Acadiaville school and worked part-time at DD MacDonald’s clothing, leaving that job to care for her grandchildren (which she continued to do into her 80’s). She firmly believed in caring for her home and belongings and took great pride in doing so. She watched her pennies but also incredibly generous, always secretly shoving a $20 into the hand of a visiting grandchild.
She loved a good game of cards, was a lifelong knitter, and possessed a wicked (and sometimes devious) sense of humour. She loved to laugh and joke, and she was very good at making others do the same. Mémé also made the best old-fashioned peanut butter fudge in the world.
Given her strong faith, we are confident that she was welcomed in Heaven by her parents, Harry and Margaret-Ann (David) Boudreau; siblings Stella, Margaret, Florence, Regina, Genevieve, Victor, Vernie, Urbain and Willie; her husband Hogan; daughter Claire and grandson Nathan.
Left to carry her spirit are her son Jerry (Muriel); daughter Annette (Ronnie); son-in-law Clarence; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, all of whom carry pieces of her strength, humour, and warmth. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass and committal will take place at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Priscilla can be made to the Hearts of Isle Madame.
Toodle-doo, Mémé.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., in Arichat.
