Obituary of Mary Colina LeBlanc
Please share a memory of Mary Colina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary (Colina) LeBlanc, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17 at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston.
Colina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andrew LeBlanc; parents Colin and Mary MacDougall (Poirier); sisters, Matilda, Yvonne, and Sheila; and her brother, Sandy.
She leaves behind her five loving children: Bernie, Andre, Andrea, Merryl, and Sean. She was a proud grandmother to Isaac, Simon, Lillie, Jacob, Riley and Gabe and was recently overjoyed to welcome her great-grandson, Lincoln, into the family.
Born and raised in Inverness, Colina carried her Cape Breton roots with pride throughout her life. She later attended St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish, where she obtained her certification as a CNA. Her first job took her to Arichat where she met our father. Not long after, they were married and began building their family together.
Colina had a true gift for caring for others — both professionally and personally. She dedicated her life to nurturing those around her, always offering comfort, kindness, and a warm smile. She was especially known for her exceptional baking and her love of entertaining. Christmas night at Colina’s home was a wonderful tradition, where friends and family gathered to dance, listen to music, play games, and enjoy her wonderful cooking. Her home was always open, and her generosity and hospitality touched many in the community.
Colina will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, warmth, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative Care Society, or to the Pay It Forward "AngelFund". A celebration of Colina’s life will be held at a later date.
