MACDONALD, Kathleen Ann, 93 of Poulamon
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Kathleen Ann MacDonald of Poulamon which occurred on February 20, 2026 at the Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s.
Mom was born on March 24, 1932 in Boston, however, she grew up in River Denys, Cape Breton. It was in River Denys that she met our father, John, who was working in the area. They married on November 24, 1952. Within a few years they relocated when our father started working on Isle Madame. This is where they raised their family.
Mom always liked to keep active. She enjoyed many activities such as reading, doing puzzles, playing bingo, using her iPad or chatting with friends on the telephone. She loved visiting and travelling with family. She enjoyed her Thursday lunches with the ladies at The Nest, summer teas at the Lenoir Forge, and crafting in Rocky Bay. She was a long-standing member of the D’Escousse Civic Improvement Society along with Saint Hyacinth’s Parish CWL. For many years she would send out greeting cards to members of the community on behalf of these organizations. It was a task she took very seriously. Whether you were celebrating a special birthday or anniversary or mourning the loss of a loved one, you would receive a card. She was very passionate about fundraising for Saint. Hyacinth’s Cemetery, selling tickets to ensure the cemetery was well cared for. She was a member of the New Horizons Club in Arichat. Lastly, Mom loved to cook and bake for people. Nothing pleased her more than knowing that someone was enjoying something she made.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters Patricia (Doug) Crompton, Middle Sackville, Marie (Wayne) Goyetche, Poulamon, Sharon (Edwin) Boudreau, Arichat, Suzanne MacDonald (Luc), Middle Sackville; son Robert (Angela) MacDonald, West Arichat; grandchildren Jonathan (Lauren), Scott (Cheryl), Nelson, Terrilyn (Taylor), Geoffrey (Alyssa), Rin, Chrissy, Erica (Dave), and Jenna (Logan); great grandchildren Zander, Blake, Lucy-May, Lane, Ethan, Everett, Elias, Ezren, Brielle and Adley.
Besides her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her husband of almost 48 years, John MacDonald; son Daniel (DA), Iain and Marie in infancy and great-granddaughter Ensley.
Our sincere thanks go out to “the girls”, Delores and Lola, for all the nights she enjoyed your company. Your kindness and friendship meant a lot to her. Thank you to the staff of the Richmond Villa. Her brief stay with you was filled with kindness and compassion and we really appreciate your thoughtfulness. Many thanks to the various physicians and nurses who cared for mom over the years. Lastly, thank you to the VON home care workers.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held on March 13, 2026 at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat at 11am with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Burial at a later date in Saint Hyacinth Cemetery in D’Escousse. A reception to follow at the D’Escousse Civic Improvement Center. Memorial donations in memory of Kathleen can be made to the Saint Hyacinth Cemetery Fund in D’Escousse.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat.
