Obituary of Leo George Bouchie

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Leo George Bouchie of St. Peter's, which occurred at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on March 10, 2026. Born May 23, 1933 in River Bourgeois, he was the son of the late Marshall James, and Clara Maria (Cordeau) Bouchie. Leo was formerly employed with "Texaco Canada" on the Great Lakes and Coastal Tankers from 1948 - 1969 as a cook/Steward. From 1969 - 1986 he was employed with Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd, and AECL in Point Tupper as a production Operator; 1986 - 1990 he was employed with Clearwater Fine Foods as a Stationary Engineer, and from 1990 - 2002 he was employed with Louisiana Pacific and U/S Gypsum also as a Production Operator, from where he retired in 2002. Leo was a Lifetime Associate member of the RCL Branch 47 in Grand Anse. He is survived by his companion Margaret Eileen Burke who took care of Leo for the past 10 years; and his best friend Pat Sutherland. Leo is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, Leo was predeceased by his sister Magdalen Alice. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in the River Bourgeois Visitation Parlour in River Bourgeois on Tuesday, April 28th from 6 - 8 pm, funeral mass will be held at St John The Baptist Church, River Bourgeois, on April 29th at 11 am. Burial in St. John The Baptist Parish Cemetery, River Bourgeois. A reception will be held at the Tara Lynn Community Centre in River Bourgeois.
