Obituary of George Dominic Johnson
Please share a memory of George Dominic to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of George Dominic Johnson, on April 23rd 2026, at the age of 56.
Born in Sydney on January 19th 1970, He was the son of the late Mary and Arthur Johnson, of Potlotek.
Dominic was a member of the Potlotek Volunteer Fire Department and worked on both Lobster and Crab fishing boats for many years. Dom was many things in his life, a brother, an uncle to many nieces and nephews, a papa, and a very good friend to many. No matter how much – or how little he had, Dom was always known to give all the help he could to those he loved, whether it was to fix something – go for a cruise – or even watch the kids, he did it wholeheartedly ensuring that everyone would smile or laugh. Most of all, Dominic was known as Everyone’s Uncle Dom. In Dom’s younger years, he played baseball with the Chapel Island Braves baseball team, a sport he always loved, even as a Cutie. Those who knew Dom, knew he could give you a run for your money, whether “speeding” or stealing bases (even in high heels). Uncle Dom was Potlotek’s best Hide n Seek player.
Dominic is Survived by his children; Cleveland (Winter), Victor, Baby Dom, Gail, Georgina, Jennifer, and Layla, Grandchildren; Stephen, Heather, Amarallis, Athena, Lake, Ember, Bentley, Aviella, & Nathan. His Siblings; Sarah (Nmaqtam Gregg), Doe (Joseph), Wayne (Helen), Leah, Sidney John, Godchildren; Brian, Skiann, Hope, Adhara, and Frederick of Potlotek. Special brothers and sisters; Stephen (Barbara), Virick, Alexander Francis (Deanna), Jessie Young, Lena (Kim), Irene Francis, All of Eskasoni. And best friends, Wilbert Marshall and Billy Aqan.
Besides his loving parents, Dominic is predeceased by his brother Fitzy, his sister Kristal, Brother-in-law Norman, Special parents Alex and Mary-Julia Francis (Eskasoni), Nephew’s Owen Johnson, Eric Johnson, and Ray Ray, and Great Neice Jordyn Maryssa Johnson.

Funeral mass to be held on May 4, 2026 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Barra Head with Father Duncan MacIsaac Officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
