Obituary of Quinten Joseph Landry

Please share a memory of Quinten to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Landry, Quinten Joseph - 80 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Quinten Landry at the strait Richmond Hospital on Wednesday, April 8th. The last of twelve children of Thomas and Alvina Samson Landry, Quinten was born in Little Anse, Isle Madame, on March 10, 1935. Upon the death of his mother ten days following his birth, Quinten was welcomed into the family of his aunt Maude LeLievre Landry, and raised in their home in Louisdale with four other children. Quinten entered the workplace at a very young age and had a very strong work ethic. From Sydney he made his way to Toronto where he married Sylvia Sampson, and together they raised five children. Their house was "home" for many newcomers to the big city and it is still a common event to hear someone say "I lived at your house in Toronto." In retirement Quinten enjoyed activities such as fishing, hunting, planting and wood cutting. As a neighbor and friend Quinten was loyal and kind, but also a prankster. He joked and "lied" better than most and played tricks on the most guarded. Left to mourn his loss are his five children, Brad (Marion), Darlene, Freddy (Heather), Ann Marie (Al), Tammy (Teddy), his second wife Viola and her four children Michel (Dominique and Andre), Celeste (Jacques and Kristen), Jacqueline (Laura and Thomas) and Rod, Micheline (Connor and Cohen). He will be greatly missed by his beloved Grandchildren Jesse and Brandon, Dylan and Daniel, Michael and TJ, Krissy and Charlie and Great grandchildren Linkon, Allison, Quinten and Madison. Quinten is survived by his three sisters Delta, Lucille and Helen and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by siblings Mary, Rose, Evangeline, Margaret Maude, Bertha Mae, Raymond, Theresa, Muriel, Bertha, Lorraine, Alvina and Willie. Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson Room, Louisdale on Sunday April 12th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 13th, at 11 a.m. in St. Louis Church, Louisdale with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial to follow in St. Louis Parish Cemetery. Reception will be held in St. Louis Parish Hall following the burial. Donations in memory of Quinten can be made to the St. Louis Renovation Fund or a charity of your choice.
