Obituary of Douglas Charles Forgeron

Forgeron, Douglas Charles - Halifax/Louisdale It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our father, age 92 on May 7th in Halifax. Dad was born in West Arichat on January 25th,1923.He was the son of the late Wilson and Artimese (LeJeune) Forgeron. Dad joined the navy in 1941 and was at Normandy for the D-Day landing. Arriving home in 1945 from Europe he married his "beautiful girl" Edna Samson who he cherished until her death in 2008. Dad returned to school and after obtaining his B.A. and B.Ed became a teacher and then high school principal retiring in 1981.He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he served for many years as president. He was also a founding member of the Louisdale Lions Club. Dad is survived by six children, Diane (Percy King), Edmonton, Gail(Leonard Samson)Halifax, Maureen(Michael MacNeil) Truro, Paul, Sundri, Alberta, Don (Linda)Toronto, and Paulette(Brent Field) Fort Saskatchewan Alberta,12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Adolphe (Ken)Rosie, in Halifax , his sister Muriel Curran, Onset, Ma, his sisters in law Dora Linden and Mary Marchand in Louisdale. We would like to especially thank our sister Gail for taking such good care of mom and dad for so many years. Visitation will be in the Glen Samson Room, Louisdale on Monday, May 11th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a celebration of dad's life on Tuesday, May 12th in St Louis Parish church, Louisdale at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall following the burial. Donations can be made to the Cemetery Fund, St. Louis Parish or the Isle Madame Veteran's Comfort Fund.
