Obituary of Norman Joseph Sampson

SAMPSON, Norman Joseph, 96, of Louisdale passed away peacefully on April 16, 2017 at his residence in St Ann's Centre, in Arichat with his loving family by his side. Born October 21, 1920 in Louisdale, he was the of son the late John Joseph and Maria (Landry) Sampson. He will be sadly missed by his wife Mary Eleanor (Sampson) Sampson of 67 years; daughters, Beverlee (Gordon) Gabriel, Sydney, Charlene (Richard MacDonald), Port Hood; sons, Gary, (Judy Sorensen), Calgary, Brent (Shauna), Louisdale; grandchildren, Nancy, Jason, Tracy, Joel, Aaron and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Keegan, Lakelin, Maggie, Noah, Calder and Nathaniel; brother, Albert "Bert", St. Catherines, Ontario. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Bryant; brothers, Francis, Dominic, Thomas, Clarence. Norman joined the Canadian Merchant Navy in 1942 where he traveled to England. Following his post with the Merchant Marines he enrolled in the Canadian Provost Corp. He was discharged in 1946 and served the remainder of his military life in Halifax. He worked as an electrician for several years following his service with the army for IBEW Local 1842. Norman was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47. He was a passionate man who loved to garden, hunt and be creative in his tool shed. Norman was a loyal devoted husband to his beautiful wife Eleanor. Their love for one another was inspirational and beyond measure. He was a humble man who led his life with incredible dignity, honor and respect. He instilled these attributes in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for whom he loved and was so very proud of. He will be missed dearly not only by his family but by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson Room in Louisdale on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning, April 22, 2017 at 11 am with Rev. Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial to take place in St. Louis Parish Cemetery, Louisdale. A reception will be held in St. Louis Parish Hall following the committal. Memorial donations can be made to St. Ann's Centre or to St. Louis Parish Renovation Fund. A special thank you to the staff at St. Anne's Centre, Strait Richmond Hospital and Dr. MacNeil for their compassion care, love and support. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to, C.H.
