Poirier, Alphonse Remi �" 76, Coldbrook, formerly of D'Escousse, died at the QE11 Health Science Centre in Halifax, on February 24, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. Born in D'Escousse on February 8, 1930, he was the son of the late Edward and Leotine (Pertus) Poirier of D'Escousse. Alphonse was a lover of hunting and fishing. He was also a master carpenter creating many pieces of treasured furniture for his family. He was a First Class Power Engineer at the Nova Scotia power Corporation and then the last 20 years of his career were spent at DND Halifax as the Dockyard Utilities Officer. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Audrey, Coldbrook; sons, Edward (Pamela), Windsor; Robert (Patricia) Elmsdale, Derrick (Sabrina), Halifax; daughters, Joanne (Kevin) Giles, Bedford, Laura (Paul) Herman, Hammonds Plains; grandchildren, Leonard, Rachael, Darcy, Barry, Randy, Corey and Olivia; stepdaughters, Susan and Jill; step grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan and A.J.; brother, Frank (Joan), Port Hawkesbury; sisters, Margaret, Elise (Bernie) Britten both of Sydney. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Ignatius Church in Bedford, Monday morning, February 27, 2006 at 11:00am. A reception will be held at the church hall following the service. Burial to take place at a later date in St Hyacinth's Parish Cemetery in D'Escousse. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations can be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation. Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at the QE11 Hospital. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat.
