Obituary of Rose-Anne Jeffrey

Please share a memory of Rose-Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rose-Anne Jeffrey which occurred at her home on February 13th, 2024, after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Louisdale, NS on August 21, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Francis Peter Jeffrey of Louisdale, NS and the late Rose (Fougere) Jeffrey, of West Arichat, NS. In 2009, Rose-Anne met and began dating Paul Shears. In 2013, she would join Paul in Fort McMurray where they both worked until 2018. While in Alberta, Rose-Anne explored the majestic Canadian Rockies and the remarkable sights of Banff, including Lake Louise. She was also able to realize her dream of seeing some of her favourite artists live in concert, including Elton John, Cher and Katy Perry. Rose-Anne retired from Northern Lights Regional Hospital in 2018, and soon after she and Paul returned to their beautiful home on Cape Breton Island. Not one to sit idle, Rose-Anne used her retirement to learn a new craft and became skilled in woodworking. Her beautiful creations can be found adorning the homes of many of her family and friends. No project was too small or too big, and she ensured every detail was completed to perfection! She was a mother to two beautiful daughters, Tamara and Justine, and Paul’s daughter Sheri Shears, as well as a devoted grandmother to Sheri’s daughter Rylee, who affectionately referred to her as Mimi. She was a wonderful sister, aunt, friend and she loved to laugh. She loved animals, and was an avid supporter of animal rights and animal rescue groups. In fact, Rose-Anne rescued two of her beautiful fur babies, Scarlet and Harlee from terrible circumstances, and loved them unconditionally. Rose-Anne was a skilled gardener who loved flowers and planting vegetables – she did not, however, love earwigs, slugs, or cucumber beetles and was always seeking new ways to rid her garden of these pests. She loved suspense and horror films and most of all she loved her family. She was kind, beautiful, funny and caring. What a privilege it has been to have loved and been loved by her! Rose-Anne will be dearly missed by her two daughters Tamara and Justine MacRae, her partner Paul Shears, Paul’s daughter Sheri Shears and grand-daughter Rylee; her three fur babies, Josie, Scarlet and Harlee. She will also be dearly missed by her sisters Lorraine Boudreau (Ronald), Louisdale, Joan Sampson, Louisdale, Andrew Jeffrey (Jeanette), D’Escousse, and Conrad Jeffrey (Ann), Louisdale, and several nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly - especially Corinne Boudreau and Ayesha Jeffrey-Mattews who so lovingly cared for her during the last weeks of her illness. The family would also like to thank the Palliative Care team for their kindness and professionalism. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Carita (LeBlanc) and Joseph Fougere, her paternal grandparents, Georgina (Samson) and Geofrey Jeffrey, niece, Donna (Jeffrey) Marchand (Jason), Brother-in-law Felix Sampson (Joan). There will be no visitation per request. Funeral Mass to celebrate the Life of Rose-Anne will be held in St. Louis Parish, Louisdale on Saturday, February 24, 2024 @ 11am with Rev. Duncan MacIssac officiating. Committal will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save a Life Canada Animal Rescue: https://salcars.ca/, or a charity of choice.
