Obituary of Catherine Rita Boudreau

BOUDREAU, Catherine Rita (Age 95) - River Bourgeois It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Rita Boudreau on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish, surrounded by love. Born in River Bourgeois, she was the daughter of the late Alcide and Anastasia (Deveau) Burke. Catherine had a passion for cooking. Throughout her life, she worked in areas of the kitchen at the V.G. Hospital, The School for the Blind, Hotels, Motels and local restaurants. Her skills always filled kitchens with the comforting aroma of fresh baked bread, pies and famous chocolate chip cookies. As well as, Soups and Gravies hard to replicate. Anyone who walked through her door never left hungry or without a tin of treats. In her later years, Catherine enjoyed playing Bingo every Sunday and was always ready to play a game of cards or make a puzzle. She looked forward to visits from her grand children and great-grandchildren, who she loved to spoil. She is survived by her daughters Claire (Pat) Mines, Lower Sackville; Colleen (Greg) Sampson, St. Peters ; son Robert Boudreau, St. Peters; grandchildren Lisa Ross (Paul) ; Melinda MacIntyre (Reggie); Jennifer Afrasiabi (Mike); Chris Kuhn; Lacey LaRade (Neil); Megan Sampson (John); Shannon Sampson (Liz); Alysha Forbes (Ryan); David Forbes; Samantha Forbes; 11 great grandchildren and good friend Anna-Elisa Martens, son-in-law John Ross, and daughter-in-law Lynda Kuhn. Catherine was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her husband, George Walter Boudreau; daughter, Yvette Forbes; sisters, Amelda, Leda and brother Alfred. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 pm at the River Bourgeois Funeral Parlor, River Bourgeois. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Church in River Bourgeois, at 11 am with Rev. John Yake officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. A reception will follow the Mass at the Tara Lynne Community Centre in River Bourgeois. Memorial donations can be made to the River Bourgeois Mariners Society or a charity of your choice.
