Good Evening,
Thank you for that beautiful video memory and thank you to the chamber of commerce for honoring Herman and I with this award
Being a long-standing member of the chamber allows us to have our finger on the pulse of developments, growth and what the future of business could bring to our area.
Following the chamber’s events through social media, emails and meetings makes us feel a part of a larger network where everyone is focused on providing employment, growing our businesses and making our communities vibrant for others to want to live here.
We all know that starting a business and working hard to have it survive and be successful, takes many hours, missed holidays with family, friends, and setbacks that make you question if it’s all worth it. Being involved in your community is also very important. Volunteers are what keep communities thriving and active.
That is why we both got actively involved so that our children, neighbors and visitors would want to stay here or return to visit Isle Madame, Richmond County and surrounding areas.
Being able to be very involved in our community and keeping C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home the professional business that it is, would not of been possible without the support of our family.
In the beginning years, our sons, Chuck and Kevin, helped with ambulance calls, while we owned the service, and assisted with funeral home responsibilities where needed.
In the later years, chuck went on to become a teacher and a principal, and Kevin continued as a paramedic, embalmer and funeral director.
Kevin’s wife Noreen joined the business as a funeral director. Our newest member of our team is our granddaughter Ashley, who is also an embalmer and funeral director. They are all an asset to our business and the funeral profession, as well as the families we have served.
We thank the families for allowing us to support them during one of their most difficult times in their lives.
I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention our grandchildren Kyle and Charcy, both of which are very successful in their current career choices.
We are very proud of how our children and grandchildren have grown and how they are making their individual marks on the world.
Former staff has had a huge impact on the success of our business. I want to thank them for helping us along this journey.
We want to extend a special thank you to my brother-in-law Gordon Boudreau and his wife Idella, for giving Herman and I the opportunity in 1975 to acquire the former Chez Gordon Funeral Home Limited that Herman was co-owner of with Gordon at that time, to which we proudly own and operate as C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Limited.
Also, thank you to Herman’s family who were able to join us here this evening from near and far.
As the 2018 recipients of the Jack Hartery Lifetime Achievement Award for Business, we are honored to join the ranks of the former recipients, and we once again thank the Chamber for bestowing this honor on our business.
Ladies and gentleman, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for this honor.
