Obituary of Stanley Howard Forgeron

FORGERON, Stanley Howard 92, Martinique, passed away peacefully in the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on December 7, 2011. Born in West Arichat, he was the son of the late Ceaser and Minnie (Shannon) Forgeron. Stanley joined the Army in Aldershot and got his basic training and went to England and on to Africa to help with the Fifth General Hospital. From there to Sicily, Rome, Italy and Holland. He was discharged in Aldershot and worked on opening the Lennox Passage Bridge and the canal in Port Hawkesbury. He received the Medal of Holland, the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the War Medal 1939-45, the Defense Medal and the Thank You Canada 1945. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150 Isle Madame for 38 years. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 65 years Claire Mary (LeBlanc); daughters, Marie Sampson (Edward), Martinique, Ann McNamara (Wayne), Evanston, Joan Boivin (Fernand), Pictou; sons, Edward (Verona), Donald (Linda) and Paul (Charmaine) all of Martinique, Clifford (Audrey), Whiteside and Gary (Laura), Fort McMurray; 19 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Priscilla DeYoung, Martinique. He was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy, and Laura; brothers, Godfrey, Harvey, Raymond and Alex; grandsons, Bryon and Dwayne; granddaughters Christina and Lisa. Visitation will be held today from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, West Arichat with Rev. Will MacPherson officiating. Burial in Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative Care Society.
