Obituary of Paul Conrad Poirier

POIRIER, PAUL CONRAD - 89, Arichat, formerly of Louisdale, passed away February 1, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney. Born in Cheticamp, he was the son of the late Fidel and Elizabeth (Roach) Poirier. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, Grand Anse and served his country as a Merchant Marine and worked on the supply ships. He is survived by daughters, Betty Martell, Port Hawkesbury, Isabell Elliot companion Peter MacKenzie, Glendale, Francie Poirier, Port Hawkesbury; sons, Doug Poirier (Eileen) Poulamon, David Poirier companion Cindy, Kingston, Ontario, Gordon Poirier (Eleanor) Evanston; step son Ken Donovan (Delma) Brampton, Ontario; step daughter in law Mary Hilda (MacIsaac) Young;15 grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren; 9 grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren; brother, Henry Poirier, Judique. He was predeceased by his first wife of 25 years, Mary Elizabeth (Donovan) Poirier and his loving companion of 34 years, Mary Rose Jeffrey; son Allen Poirier; step son Dennis Young; son in law Howard Martell. He will especially missed by his very special guardian and step granddaughter Lee Anne Marchand, who thought the world of Paul. Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson room in Louisdale this evening from 7-9 and on Saturday from 10 - 12 pm. Funeral Mass will take place in St. Louis Catholic Church, Louisdale on Saturday at 1 pm. Memorial donations in Paul's memory may be made to St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre Arichat.
