Obituary of Mary Bernadette LeBlanc

LeBlanc, Mary Bernadette - 91, Halifax, formerly of Arichat, passed away peacefully April 20, 2012 at Northwood Centre, in Halifax. Born in Cape Auguet, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Eva (LeBlanc) Briand. Mainly a homemaker, Bernadette, along with her late husband Harry, were well known as the last lighthouse keepers of the Point Morach lighthouse in Cape Auguet, Richmond County. She was well recognized as an active community volunteer. One of the founding members and Past President of Our Lady of Assumption C.W.L. and a long time member of St. Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre Ladies Auxiliary. For many years she was a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and manned their loan cupboard. She leaves behind, sons, Aubrey (Marg), Truro and Jerry (Annmarie), Cape Auguet; daughter Nancy at home; sister, Freda (Joe) Boudreau, Arichat; brother Bart (Lisa), Halifax; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is predeceased by her loving husband Harry; brother Valma; sister Agatha and 6 siblings in infancy along with her grandson Ricky in infancy. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 24. 2012 in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat from 2 - 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2, in Our Lady of Assumption Church, in Arichat, with Rev. Angus MacDougall officiating. Burial to follow in the Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery Arichat. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society(NS) or St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre towards the purchase of a clothes labeling machine for the residents. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. Bernadette was well cared for and loved by the staff of Northwood Centre for the past six years. 8 Center will forever be remembered with great fondness and appreciation, by the family.
