Obituary of Mary Leonie Marchand

Marchand, Mary Leonie - 83, Louisdale, Cape Breton, died May 11, 2012 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Louisdale, July 9, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Minnie (Samson) Samson. Mary was a member of the St Louis C.W.L. in Louisdale and past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxillary Branch 47, St. Peter's. She loved sewing and baking for her family and friends and will be truly missed for her apple pies. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 65 years, Daniel; daughter, Shirley, Dartmouth; sons, Donald (Giselle), Belle River, Ontario, Jerry (Laura and her family; Kerri, Ryan, Bailey and Jordan), David (Barbara), all of Dartmouth. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Adam (Noreen), Holly, Neil (Melanie) and Michael (Kaylee); great-grand-daughter, Adyson; sisters, Martha Peddle (Bob), Margaret Samson, Edith Marchand, Yvonne Field (Alan); brothers, Fred (Barb), Ralph (Lydia), Leopold (Eileen) and Harold (Linda); numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Leo, and brothers Andrew, Quinten, Albert and sister Susan in infancy. Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson Room, Louisdale on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9. Funeral mass will take place Thursday morning at 11 in St. Louis Catholic Church, Louisdale with Rev. Angus MacDougall officiating. Burial to follow in St. Louis Parish Cemetery.
