LeBlanc, Joseph Harry, - 88, Halifax, formerly of Arichat, passed away peacefully in his residence at the Northwood Centre, Halifax, on September 10, 2007. Born in Richard's Cove in Cape Auguet, he was the son of the late Jeffrey and Clara (Marchand) LeBlanc. He served with the Merchant Marines, sailing on the Rose Castle, and then he transferred to the Royal Canadian Army where he served for two years until wars end. He was the Light House Keeper in Cape Auguet for 35 years and worked as a fisherman there. He worked for the Heavy Water Plant until they closed, and then became a maintenance helper with Atomic Energy of Canada in Port Hawkesbury until his retirement in 1984.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Bernadette (Briand), Halifax; sons, Aubrey (Margaret) Eastern Passage , Gerry, Cape Auguet; daughter Nancy (Darrell) Landry, Arichat; sisters, Jeanette (Henry) Martell, Halifax, Clarisse DeCoste, Kentville; brothers, Omer, Amedee (Millie), Lubin (Agatha), all of Halifax, Lorenzo, Montreal; fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Charles, Gussie and Omer in infancy; sister, May and grandson Rick Anthony in infancy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7-9pm and on Thursday from 1 �" 3:30pm both in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. A Military Service will be held Thursday afternoon at 4pm in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat with Rev. Angus MacDougall officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, Arichat. Family flowers only please, Memorial donations can be made to the Veteran's Wing at St. Ann Community & Nursing Care Centre in Arichat. All members of the Isle Madame Branch 150 Royal Canadian Legion are asked to meet at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on Thursday afternoon at 3:45pm to attend the funeral of their late comrade, Joseph Harry LeBlanc.
