Obituary of Robert Douglas Nicholl

Nicholl, Robert Douglas "Bob" - 94, of Arichat, formerly of D'Escousse passed away peacefully at his residence in St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre in Arichat on Sunday, October 13, 2013. Born in Estevan, Sask, September 24, 1919 he was a son of the late Clyde and Myrtle (Grass) Nicholl. Robert was a proud Veteran of the Second World War and continued to serve his country thereafter. Robert served his country from 1937 - 1967 then he retired in Nova Scotia from the service. He served with both Navy and Air Force in those 30 years. After he retired, Robert worked at Canadian Tire in Port Hastings then for the Richmond District School Board driving a school bus on Isle Madame. Robert is the last surviving member of his immediate family in Regina. He is survived by his second wife, Muriel (Britten) Nicholl, at St Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre, Arichat; son Douglas Nicholl, Ottawa; daughter, Faye Ridge (Ron), Kemptville, Ontario; grandson, Darcy; granddaughters, Christine, Marnie and Amanda; great grandsons, Austin and Theo; caretakers, Ruth and Allan Savoury; many nieces and nephews.He will be missed dearly by his special furry friend, Buddy. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lucy May (Britten) Nicholl; brother, Freeman Nicholl; sisters, Frances Nicholl and Jean Minor; brother-in-law Dick Minor; many nieces and nephews. At Robert's request, cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation or Memorial Service. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations can be made to St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre Activity Fund. A special Thank You to all Robert's doctor's over the years. And to the special doctors, nurses and all the staff at St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre for their special care and patience while taking care of Robert while he was there.
