Obituary of Hélène Laura Landry

Landry, Evangéline Hélène Laura - 91, of West Arichat. We are deeply sadden to announce the passing of Hélène which occurred on November 10, 2013 at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston with her loving family by her side. Born on January 16, 1922 in West Arichat, she was the daughter of the late Jeffrey and Florence (LeJeune) Forgeron. Hélène was the last surviving member of her immediate family. At the early age of 17, Hélène entered the convent and in 1941 made her first profession and became a Sister with Les Filles de Jesus. She then later pursued her studies at the University de Moncton to become a teacher and practiced teaching for 41 years throughout NB, Alberta and Nova Scotia. On July 26, 1978 at the age of 57 she married the love of her life, the late Dominique Xyste Landry. Aunt Hélène was a remarkable lady who touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her door was always opened to company and she was never found lost for words. She will be missed for her stories, her wonderful sense of humour and of course her quick wit. The Forgeron family has lost a valuable piece of history with her passing. She was always a very generous lady and was very charitable to her community. She leaves behind her 4 step children; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grand children and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Dominique Xyste Landry; sisters Zelia Edwards, Dorothy Boudreau and Evangéline in infancy; brothers Wilfred, Clarence, Edmund, Hubert, Albert, Edward and Abraham; also several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation be request. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, West Arichat with Rev. Andrew Gillies officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held following the internment in the Acadiaville Hall, West Arichat. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of choice.
