Obituary of Mary Josephine Martell

MARTELL, Mary Josephine (Phine), 86 - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, mémé, grand mémé, aunt and friend Josephine better known as (Phine) on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at her residence in St Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre, Arichat. Born in Petit de Grat, she was the daughter of the late John Zephir and Lily Jane (Fougere) Boudreau. Phine was a hard worker for her family and friends. She took care of others and was always there for a friend in need. She loved to cook and bake meat pies, apple pies and bread. She also loved to play darts go to bingo and have a good game of cards. Phine was set in her ways but had a great sense of humour. She was always up for a laugh and a good stiff drink of rum. She is survived by her sons, Vernie (Mary Louise), Samson's Cove, Simon (Jan), James (Lana), Blair (Debbie) all of Halifax, Carl (Lisa), Louisdale, Harry (Andrea) Arichat; daughters, Cecile (Art) Baigent, Halifax, Deltina (Wayne) Baigent, Louisdale, Madelaine (Bernie) Delaney, Doris (Craig) Martell, both of Halifax; 26 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald (Mary Louise) Alderney Point and Freddie, Gaspe, Quebec. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Andrew; daughter, Bernadette Babin, grandson Adam Baigent; brothers, Clifford, Godfrey, Felix, Lawrence, Emile, Charles; sisters, Gertrude, Regina, Eva May, Sabine Rose, Deltina and Evelyn; son-in-law Omer Babin. Visitation will take place today on Monday, from 2 - 9pm in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday morning at 11 in St. Joseph's Church in Petit de Grat officiated by Rev. Andrew Gillies. Cremation will follow. Burial will take place in the Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat at a later date.
