Obituary of Mary Lorraine Forster

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lorraine Forster It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing, in Halifax, of Mary "Lorraine" Forster on September 8, 2014 at the age of 91. Born in Little Anse, Nova Scotia on December 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Samson and Josephine Samson (Boudreau). After leaving home at a young age, she worked in Halifax as a factory worker and waitress during the Second World War where she met, and subsequently married, her "handsome Englishman" Stanley Forster. After an 18 month stay in England, she and Stan returned to Canada, living for a few years in Halifax, then 13 years in Toronto, before moving back to the area where she grew up. In that time, she raised three children and continued to work off and on in the restaurant industry, including managing a motel and dining room in the Arichat area with her husband. Lorraine loved having a good time, especially dancing and playing cards. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who relished family get-togethers, whether it was a birthday party, Christmas dinner, or just getting together to have fun. She is survived by her son Wayne Forster (Helen), Lower Sackville; daughter Susan Marchand, Petit de Grat; daughter Heather Farr (Tom), Sydney; grandchildren Steven Marchand (Tracy), Jennifer Forster (Stephen Cameron), Amanda Skinner (Chris), Scott Marchand (Julie), Neil Forster (Boyoung), Jade Farr and Lia Farr; and great-grandchildren Christopher, Samantha, Steven, Evan, Brooklyn, Liam, Violet, Keira and MacConnell. She is also survived by brother Rudolph Samson and sisters Delima Weissent, Betty Tandy, and Dorothy Morrison. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Stanley Forster; son-in-law Alzear "Fuzzy" Marchand; brothers William, Lawrence, George, Henry and Oswald; and sisters Bernadette Clannon and Alma Boudreau. Visitation will be held Friday, September 12, 2014 from 2-9 pm and on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 9-10:30 am in C.H.Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat, with a church service to follow at 11 am in St. Joseph's Church, Petit de Grat with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow at St. Joseph's Parish Hall. Donations can be made to the St. Anne's Community & Nursing Care Centre, Arichat, or to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H.Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat. To send words of comfort to the family or to light a candle in memory of Mary Lorraine, please visit www.chboudreau.com
