Obituary of Mary Evelyn Doiron
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doiron, Mary Evelyn, 78 - Port Hawkesbury, formerly of Janvrin's Island, passed away peacefully at her residence in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home in Port Hawkesbury, with her loving family by her side. Born in Grand Etand, she was the daughter of the late John and Virginia (Aucoin) Cormier. The highlight of Evelyn's life was to run the Mi-Carème in Grand Etang with her favorite Mi-Carème partner and best friend Mary Sophie Richard. Being on the move most of the time, she loved having a good time and making people laugh. She also loved cooking for her family and friends and gave a lot of support to anyone who needed it in her community. In the summer, when the family got together which was quite often, you would see Evelyn getting ready by brewing up a good bash of salt cod, boiled dinner, getting the musicians together and everyone would party till midnight. She loved life as a whole. Evelyn was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Parish C.W.L. in West Arichat. She is survived by daughters, Sheila Hill (Billy), Janvrin's Island; and Lisa MacNamara (Michael), Port Hawkesbury; son, John Gerard Gaudet (Della), Janvrin's Island; grandchildren, Farrah (Brent), Billy Jr. (Michelle), Willow, Savannah (Chi), Jordan, Madison (Joel), Ainslee and Garrison; great-grandchildren, Amarachi, Chiamaka and Sophie; brothers, Joseph Henry Cormier and Leonard Cormier (Hilda) both of Cheticamp; sister Mary Elizabeth Cormier, Sydney. Although our parents were separated they were still great friends and a big part of our family is our father, Louis Gaudet (Joyce), Janvrin's Island. She was also survived by her former husband, Robert Doiron, Port Hawkesbury. Evelyn was predeceased by her brothers, Leonard in infancy and Willie Joe; sister Mary Lucy LeBlanc. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 5th in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph DuMoine Cemetery in Cheticamp at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home Activity Fund or to the Alzheimers Society Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat.
