Obituary of Viola Mildred Gould

Please share a memory of Viola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gould (Williams), Viola Mildred " 86, D'Escousse, passed away September 2nd, 2008 at home, in the care of her loving family. Born Nov. 5, 1921 in Ostrea Lake, N.S. she was the daughter of the late Capt. Leonard and Florence (Baker) Williams. Vi genuinely welcomed all who entered her home and seldom let anyone leave without having 'a little something to eat'. Her crib board and deck of cards were always on the table and ready to earn double for a 'skunk' or to play whatever your game. She easily laughed at herself over some of the sillier moments in her life and was often willing to share her well-intentioned advice in any situation. She had a wide circle of friends and extended family, old and young, near and far " many of whom adopted her as 'Aunt Vi' and others as 'Memé'. She was always happiest when surrounded by lots of company and especially when her snow-white hair was set and lipstick in place. Her family and friends will miss her smile and her laughter, her brownies and her apple pie, her love and compassion and her heartfelt hugs and kisses. She is survived by daughters Diane Minshull, Sackville, NB and Judy Marchand, D'Escousse; sons Jim (Lorraine), Chelmsford, Mass; Paul (Eleanor), D'Escousse; Tony (Dollene), Hammonds Plains; Billy (Judy), Louisdale; son-in-law Jacques Grenier, Gaspé, Que; one brother Bob (Evie) Williams, Dartmouth, 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband James Michael Gould Sr.; daughter Janet Grenier; grandson Derek Minshull, sisters Florence, Elsie, Lena, Margaret and Lillian; brothers Jim, Roland, Frank, Maurice, and Arthur; sons-in-law Wally Minshull and Vernon Marchand. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, in CH Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat, from 2pm " 4pm and 7pm " 9 pm. A Celebration of Vi's life will be held at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in D'Escousse at 11 am Saturday September 6, with Rev. Angus MacDougall officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society, Heart and Stroke foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice.
