Obituary
Obituary of Sara Cecena Garcia
Please share a memory of Sara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sara was a vibrant, happy and beautiful young soul. She was wise beyond her years and planned to use her love for people to change the world. She loved soft colours, her friends, sports, chocolate, singing, spicy food, her many dogs, her role as team captain of her volleyball team and her iPad which could be seen with her throughout every part of the day or night. She lived each day with charisma and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She had the ability to light up a room with her smile, infectious laugh and her positive attitude was like no other. Sara loved Canada from the moment she arrived and was determined, focused and motivated to learn as much English as possible. In just three short months, Sara was able to communicate effectively with her friends and family. Sara loved her friends and worked very hard at being thoughtful while always maintaining a positive and forgiving attitude. In the short time she was here, she made many friends and was especially close to the girls on her volleyball team, especially Mackenzie as well as her very special friend Adam.
The tragedy that took place on December 1st may have taken Sara's life, but she will never be gone from the hearts of her family, extended family and friends in Mexico, Canada and around the world. While everyone mourns her loss, the loss of her friend Sarah Poirier and her Coach Kayla Cotton, it is important to remember what Sara would have wanted; love, happiness and peace for everyone. During the days ahead and as we all learn to begin to live with a "new normal," always remember her energy. She will be in our hearts forever.
A Memorial Service for Sara will take place at Richmond Education Centre/Academy on Friday, December 4th at 5:00 p.m. with Father Doug MacDonald officiating. Sara will be laid to rest with her family in Mexico at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of CH Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat.
