Obituary of Rene Joseph Marchand

MARCHAND, Rene Joseph, 86 - Petit De Grat, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2016 at St Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish with his loving family by his side. Born in Petit De Grat, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Juliette M. (Samson) Marchand. Rene was a member the Isle Madame Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150 in Arichat. He worked for Off-Shore Marine in Mulgrave and was a Master Mariner for Northern Construction in the Beaufort Sea. He enjoyed regular trips out with his boat with friends and family to go fishing. Rene will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen Nellie (Gates) Marchand, Petit De Grat; daughter, Tina Magega (Brian) Ardrossan, Alberta; sons, Rene Marchand (Colleen) Beaumont, Alberta, Richard Marchand (Connie), Antigonish; grandchildren, Simone, Solange, Josée, Ross, Ian, Janelle and Gilles; great granddaughter, Aeralynn. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Adolphe Marchand. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held January 20, 2016 in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home from 6:00 till 9:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held on January 21, 2016 in St Joseph's Catholic Church in Petit De Grat at 11:00am with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will be held in the Star of the Sea Cemetery in Petit De Grat at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to St Martha's Palliative Care Unit. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to, C.H.
